Hey there, DLS community! It’s been a long time since you last heard from us but trust us—we haven’t been taking a vacation. Behind the scenes, we’ve been rolling up our sleeves to improve your DLS Hosted PBX experience. From feature upgrades to squashed bugs, we’ve been busy cleaning house.

With version 6.0, we undertook a major rewrite of significant parts of our PBX code to make the system more reliable and secure. This process, along with thorough testing, took longer than expected. But we’re glad to say that this phase is behind us, and we’re ready to move forward.

Version 6.0 introduces new underlying PBX technology, a modern development framework, and optimized code that isn’t flashy on the surface but lays the foundation for better scalability and future improvements. Alongside this, we’ve made a significant investment in upgrading the hardware infrastructure that powers DLS Hosted PBX, ensuring a robust and dependable service for years to come.

This wasn’t just about building something better—it was about getting it right. Thank you for your patience as we worked to make this happen. Now, we’re happy to share some big news: version 6.0 is officially leaving beta and launching to all users on March 1st! But before we dive headfirst into the future, let’s take a moment to touch on everything that’s new and improved in our current 5.7 release.

Here’s what’s been keeping our development team up late (besides coffee):

• Friendlier User Preferences

Passwords are now a breeze to set up! We’ve added a real-time checklist to guide you in creating a secure password that meets all criteria and matches the confirmation. Say goodbye to the guesswork.

• Email Clarity, Simplified

Not sure what email is tied to what feature? We’ve made it crystal clear in the interface, so whether it’s “Email to Fax” or something else, you’ll know exactly where everything stands.

• LDAP Configuration Just Got Smoother

For those using LDAP profiles, we’ve automated the process of populating names and emails when configuring extensions. This ensures easier setups and prevents errors—because who wants to deal with manual headaches?

• Customization at Your Fingertips

You can now hide features in the Desktop Communicator or handsets to give users a cleaner, more tailored interface. Control these settings tenant-wide or on a per-user basis—flexibility is the name of the game.

• Logs That Actually Help

You would not see it on your end, but our support team will probably rejoice! We’ve decluttered error logs to make them more readable and useful. Hunting down issues just got a whole lot easier.

 Quality of Life: Little Changes, Big Impact

Sometimes, it’s the small things that make a big difference. Some features of 6.0 include:

1. QR Code Emails: Provisioning a mobile Acrobits softphone is now as simple as clicking “Send QR Code to Email.” Efficient!
2. Improved Password Management: A dynamic checklist helps users create secure passwords that meet criteria, with real-time confirmation.
3. Cleaner Email Labels: The interface now clearly shows which emails are tied to specific features, reducing confusion.
4. Flexible Fax Formatting: Numbers with dashes, parentheses, or other formats are now accepted without errors.
5. Streamlined Handset Transfers: Polycom and Yealink handsets can be moved between PBXs without manual resets or on-site provisioning.
6. Readable Error Logs: Logs have been decluttered, making it easier for support teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
